About This Project

Biomedical engineering is one of the fastest growing disciplines in the world. In this project, our aim is to understand different diseases in both circulatory and pulmonary systems as they are the main responsible of the deaths in the world.

We have stablished a close collaboration with physicians in our main regional hospital. A combination of medical data (MRI, TC, diagnostic sonograms and in vivo measurements), with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), 3D printing and modelled experiments is employed to describe the blood flow in arteries with atherosclerosis, aneurysms, etc. The same techniques are used to improve the drug delivery in the human airways. A good understanding of the flow would foresee the appearance of diseases.
