Micronozzles are extensively used in microfluidics applications, such as flow focusing, microencapsulation or inkjet. In particular, we are interested in glass-made nozzles that allow to see the process within. Usually, the nozzle performance will strongly depend on its diameter, which needs to be accurately produced by the manufacturing process. For some applications, it is also crucial to control the micronozzle shape and diameter reduction.
In our group, we are developing several manufacturing processes, based on the partial melting of glass capillaries, to get micronozzles with a desired diameter or shape, and high repeatability.
